Behind the Scenes with Rob Sechan

Behind the Scenes With Rob Sechan
January 18, 2023

In addition to his busy schedule as the Managing Partner of NewEdge Capital Group and CEO of NewEdge Wealth, Rob Sechan, can frequently be seen on CNBC and various media outlets. What goes on behind the scenes? Here’s a sneak peek.

Preparation is Key

One of the structural advantages NewEdge Wealth has in working with our clients is our access to intellectual capital. This comes in the form of being a customer of the best research that the firms across Wall Street have to offer, the research that our own investment team at NewEdge produces under the guidance of CIO Cameron Dawson, and the insights we receive from the outside members of our Investment Advisory Board such as Lee Cooperman and Tom Lee.

The power of access to this level of research and insights is not just valuable to working with our clients, but also in the case of doing live TV where the host can ask you about almost anything related to the markets. The entire Investment team at NewEdge plays a role in each appearance Rob has at CNBC, providing him with the latest data about our strategies at NewEdge.

Look Good, Play Good

Rob full-heartedly subscribes to the “look good, play good” philosophy. With Rob’s responsibilities at NewEdge, it’s often difficult for him to make the trip to New York City to appear live at the CNBC studios or on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. While connecting remotely from his home office worked during the pandemic, NewEdge Wealth made it a priority to build a studio for these live appearances at our state-of-the-art office in Stamford, CT.

The NewEdge Wealth studio provides professional lighting, sound, and acoustics so each media appearance reflects the same attention to detail and quality we deliver across everything we do at NewEdge.

It’s Go Time

On the day of Rob’s appearances, the Investment team at NewEdge helps Rob gather the most current figures on macro and stock-specific items. After an outline is produced, Rob spends the rest of his preparation time reviewing the collection of data covering U.S. politics, international trade and economies, and much more. Then… it’s go time.
